Initial iteration - REALITI - a robotic video stylet
REALITI was the first concept. It utilizes the advantages of a video stylet but has a flexible robotic tip that automatically aligns towards the trachea.
REALITI was the first idea to simplify airway management. It is an acronym for Robotic Endoscope Automated via Laryngeal Imaging for Tracheal Intubation.
This initial development took place in the academic environment under ETH Zurich, University Hospital of Zurich, and the University of Zurich. It also created publications and theses and reached the technological readiness level 6.
As soon as the development reached a more mature state, we started to collect market feedback, which clearly advised against a video stylet solution and towards the video laryngoscope.
